The UK faces a NEW mini-heatwave as temperatures rocket back up into the 20s. After an Easter washout, the UK is poised for the return of 20C temperatures - with a possible rival for the current, standing 2025 record of 24C, which was recorded in the south of England last week.

The high temperatures arrive on May 2, with the South East, with London and the home counties anticipated to see temperatures in the high teens. Norfolk and Suffolk promise to be the warmest with highs of 20C.


Greater London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey, and Sussex are also set to sizzle, alongside. Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Hampshire, and Oxfordshire.

A Met Office forecast spanning April 24 to May 3 explains: "Mainly dry across the UK at the start of this period. Some light rain or showers are possible across southern and western areas, but other regions will be brighter with spells of sunshine.

"Into the weekend, this is likely to be little change with most areas fine and dry.

"Parts of the west and southwest are likely to be cloudier with a risk of some patchy rain or drizzle. Into the final days of April and start of May, high pressure is likely to be the dominant weather pattern.

"Fine and dry weather is expected for the majority of the UK with periods of sunshine. Winds are likely to be light with temperatures close to or slightly above normal."

Looking ahead from May 4 to May 18, it adds: "Often fine and dry across the UK in early May with high pressure patterns expected to dominate. Toward the middle of the month, there is an increasing chance of showers or longer spells of rain developing."

The Met Office forecast adds: "Temperatures are expected to be close to or slightly above average." In the short term, a BBC Weather forecast for Easter Sunday (April 20) says: "Today, dry with sunny spells and patchy cloud. Southeast England will be cloudier with isolated showers, spreading westwards later on.

"Cloudy with patchy rain in Northern Ireland and west Scotland." It adds: "Cloudy in Northern Ireland, Wales and southwest England with outbreaks of rain in the early hours.

"Cloudy with isolated showers elsewhere in England. Clear spells and variable cloud in Scotland."
