Las Vegas (KSNV) — Maxx, a spirited three-legged Doberman puppy from Las Vegas, is set to take the field in Puppy Bowl XXI, the annual call-to-adoption television event airing on Sunday, February 9.
The event, now in its 21st year, will feature 142 rescue puppies from 80 shelters across 40 states and two countries, showcasing their journeys from birth to adoption.
Maxx, who arrived at the Nevada SPCA at just 2 months old with a malformed front leg, underwent surgery to amputate the limb.
Despite this, Maxx has adapted remarkably well to life as a tripod and will represent Las Vegas on Team Ruff.

"We’re so proud of Maxx, not only for his amazing performance as one of the best athletes in the Puppy Bowl despite his disability but especially for how Maxx has tackled life in general," said Nevada SPCA Executive Director Lori Heeren. "Nothing slows Maxx down. He’s faster than most dogs with 4 legs!"
The Puppy Bowl will be simulcast across multiple networks, including Animal Planet and Discovery, and will highlight the dedication of rescues and shelters to finding forever homes for animals.
Eleven special needs dogs, including Maxx, will participate, demonstrating that disabilities do not hinder their determination or spirit.
