Port Moresby’s harbor will take on two of the three cruise ships to accommodate 4000 guests following confirmation by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill of securing their services.

The third ship will anchor of the new Motukea Port in time for the November Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation Leaders’ Summit.

Mr O’Neill made the announcement in line with a site visit to construction site of 2018 APEC PNG’s main meeting venue the APEC Haus in Port Moresby yesterday.

The three cruise ships, Pacific Explorer, Pacific Dawn, and Sea Princes are all operated by P&O Cruises Australia.

“I also want to announce that we have secured the services of the P&O Cruises,” Mr O’Neill said.

“Three large cruise ships will be parked here in Port Moresby at our harbour and of course one at Motukea, which will cater for 4000 rooms that will adequately accommodate all the delegates who will come into this country.”

Mr O’Neill also updated the construction of Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby as well has being brought back on schedule in time for the November meeting.

“I want to assure the nation and our people that we are now ready to host this very important event.”

Engagement of the cruise liners will assist in catering for accommodation shortfall for the thousands of leaders, delegates, and invited guests all expected to flood into Port Moresby for the main leader meeting of the 2018 APEC Summit.
